An outstanding building in its own right, the hotel was constructed in 1898 of local granite and, as it is therefore one of the original tourist hotels in the South West of Scotland, is of quite unique character.
Hotel Accommodation
The Ellangowan Hotel offers a high standard of decor and is centrally heated throughout. All bedrooms are attractively furnished, warm and welcoming, and have the facilities which today's discerning clientele are entitled to expect. All rooms are en-suite and have a colour television and tea/coffee making facilities.
Activity Breaks
5 RSPB reserves within 1 hours' drive, provide a range of bird watching activities for the keen ornithologist. The Ellangowan Hotel is at the foot of Cairnsmore of Fleet, and a short distance from the Galloway Forest Park, providing a range of hill walking and forest walks for hill walkers and ramblers. The Restaurant

The Wicker Man
The interior of the Ellangowan Hotel was used in the filming of the cult movie The Wicker Man which starred Britt Eckland (pictured opposite behind the bar at the Ellangowan Hotel) and Edward Woodward.
